i love poetry slam nights in corvallis!
So, here it is, a half an hour after the fifth month of Corvallis Poetry Slam, and I just want to say that I love this town and love y'all. Tonight was a lot of fun, and...let's see. Thanks to Derek for hosting tonight and doing and excellent job, and thanks to everyone for participating!
Top five, who have buys into March's slam (the finals, to determine Corvallis' team for Nationals):
1. Brian D
2. Nicholas
3. Three
4. Ed
5. Michael
I would write more, but I have to write about Plato and Kenneth Burke before going to bed and getting up to be in Portland in seven hours. Holy fuck. So, yeah, I'm going to go write about Plato now, if I'm not too drunk.
Some last words, as said by Nicholas tonight: "Poetry here—here is alive, well, and productive."
See you in February on the 15th!!!

Any knowledge of poetry around Corvallis, readings that is? I'm afraid of you young guys, so I don't read at the slams. I like your stuff, however. But anyhow, know of any events suitable for shyer types, types unaccustomed to the company of people?

The open mic at Iovino's on the first Wednesdays of the month (February 1 is the next one) is a little more laid back, with music, a variety of types of poetry, and people of all ages. The crowd varies from month to month.
Other than that, I don't know of much that is regularly scheduled. Some things pop up occasionally, but I don't think anything is set at a specific time.
